Wayne Thomas (soccer player, 1958)

Wayne Thomas (born September 2, 1958 in Coventry ) is a former Welsh football player .

Thomas was active in German professional football from 1978. After working in the 2. Bundesliga at KSV Baunatal and Alemannia Aachen he moved during the season 1983/84 for Bundesliga -Aufsteiger 05 Uerdingen Bayer , where he was a regular player. His greatest success with the Krefeld team was winning the DFB Cup in 1985 ; in the 2-1 final win against FC Bayern Munich , Thomas was substituted on in the closing stages.

In 1985 he joined the newly promoted Bundesliga Hannover 96 , with whom he was relegated directly and then immediately rose again. In the first division season 1986/87 he completed only three missions before he moved back to the second division at Kickers Offenbach .

Wayne Thomas' younger brother Dean Thomas was also active as a professional in Germany. He made 123 first and second division appearances for Alemannia Aachen and Fortuna Düsseldorf .
