The Weathering Continent ( Japanese 風 の 大陸 , Kaze no Tairiku , German continent of the wind ) is a 28-part light novel series by Sei Takewawa , which was also implemented as an anime film.
action
The continent of Atlantis is nothing more than a desolate desert, this state has prevailed for over 1000 years. Since then, the continent has been hit by devastating natural disasters.
Anime
The story begins with three adventurers, the magician Tieh, the young thief Lakushi and the swordsman Bois, wandering through the desert. Late one evening, they discover the scene of a gruesome crime. Some strangers were tortured to death by strangers. When the group took a closer look around this place, they attacked the only survivor of this torture, the girl Lifas. She thinks the three are the people who tortured her friends, but quickly realizes that they are not among the perpetrators. She tells the adventurers that they were looking for a legendary treasure and that they were ambushed and tortured by cruel robbers.
The girl dies of starvation. Since the adventurers gave the girl some water shortly before she died, they urgently need fresh water in order not to die of dehydration themselves. By chance they discover a nearby ruined city and go in search of water. Soon the three realize that this ruined city is the legendary City of the Dead, Azec Sistora. It is said that no one has ever returned from this city alive through a curse. All over the city there are mummified dead who, it seems, in their rigor mortis pursue the activities and duties of noble society. A culture that was lost a long time ago tried to defy death through this elaborate and expensive staging and thus wanted to give its dead eternal pleasure. The only way to escape the wrath of the spirits of the mummified dead is only through extreme care and awe.
The band of robbers who tortured the foreign travelers to death has invaded the city of the dead to steal the treasure of Azec Sistra. They take no account of the dead, which draws the anger of the dead and does not stop at the three friends.

novel
The 28-part novel cycle, written by Sei Takekawa and illustrated by Mutsumi Inomata , was first published in 1988 . The first excerpts of the first volume were published in Dragon Magazine, the entire first volume in October 1990. The last volume was published in April 2006 and closes the series.
Anime
The Weathering Continent is a film production from the Studio Production IG and was released in 1992. The character design comes from Nobuteru Yūki . In Germany, the anime was published in 2003 by OVA Films .
