location

history

Webams can be traced back to families named "Weber" for the first time in 1498, which are presumably identical to families of this name already mentioned in 1472, who are mentioned in the abandoned settlement Singrienen near Röhrwang in the course of notarized pasture rights disputes. The place name Webams appears for the first time in 1718.

The hamlet belonged to the Ronsberg rule of Stein. After their division, it and the surrounding towns came to the Kempten Monastery under Prince Abbot Engelbert von Syrgenstein in 1749 .

Until May 1, 1978 Webams belonged to the previously independent municipality of Bayersried in the former district of Marktoberdorf . Bayersried was then incorporated into Eggenthal as part of the regional reform.

Ecclesiastically, the place belonged to the Baisweil parish until 1495. Since 1495 he has belonged to the Eggenthal parish of St. Afra.
