Bewaunen belongs to the Holzstetten settlement group and is a district of the Upper Swabian municipality of Eggenthal in the Ostallgäu district in Bavaria .

location

The hamlet is located in the southeast of the municipality on the OAL 11 district road, about four kilometers from Eggenthal and consists of seven houses and farms.

history

The small hamlet first appeared in documents in 1725 as belonging to the rule of Stein. After its division, Beschaunen and the surrounding towns came to the Kempten Monastery under Prince Abbot Engelbert von Syrgenstein in 1749 , and it remained in the possession and jurisdiction of the monastery until the secularization in 1803. 1800 the place is mentioned as "Beschian".

Until May 1, 1978, Bewaunen belonged to the previously independent municipality of Bayersried in the former district of Marktoberdorf . Bayersried was then incorporated into Eggenthal as part of the regional reform.
