Weberbauerocereus rauhii is a species of plant from the genus Weberbauerocereus in the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet rauhii honors the German botanist Werner Rauh .
description
Weberbauer ocereus rauhii grows shrubby to tree-shaped with candelabra-like, upright shoots , which are 8 to 15 centimeters in diameter and reach heights of up to 6 meters. A short trunk is formed. There are about 23 ribs . The areoles on it are gray. The up to six, very strong, yellow central spines have a darker tip and are 6 to 7 centimeters long. The numerous whitish gray radial spines are up to 1 centimeter long. There are long bristles in the flowering area.
The somewhat zygomorphic, slightly fragrant flowers open at night and are up to 10 centimeters long. Your purple-brown tube is densely scaled. The outer bracts are reddish brown, the inner white to pink or pinkish brown. The fruits are brownish red to orange and reach a diameter of up to 3 centimeters. They are trimmed with white wool.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Weberbauer ocereus rauhii is distributed in the Peruvian regions of Huancavelica , Ayacucho , Arequipa and Ica at altitudes of 500 to 2500 meters.
The first description by Curt Backeberg was published in 1957. A synonym is Haageocereus rauhii (Backeb.) PVHeath .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
