The Weichhaarige Mannsschild ( Androsace pubescens ) is a species of the genus Mannsschild ( Androsace ) in the family of Primrose (Primulaceae).
features
The soft-haired man's shield is a perennial , low plant that grows in flat, loose cushions. It is covered with simple or forked, soft and up to 0.4 millimeters long hair. The leaves are arranged in rosettes. They are 4 to 10 millimeters long, up to 2.5 millimeters wide, spatulate to lanceolate, blunt and hairy on the edge and on both sides protruding.
The individual flowers arise from the armpits of the rosette leaves and barely rise above them. The flower stalks are up to 5 millimeters long. The calyx is 3 to 5 millimeters long and divided up to the middle. The crown is 4 to 6 millimeters wide and white, rarely reddish in color. The throat is yellow. The teeth are rounded or trimmed. The corolla tube is shorter than the calyx teeth.
The flowering period extends from June to July.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 40.
Occurrence
The soft-haired man's shield occurs in the Pyrenees , in the western Alps from the Graian Alps to the Bernese Alps and in eastern Switzerland in the Pizol group . The species grows on limestone and limestone schist on rubble and in crevices in the alpine zone at altitudes of 2000 to 3700 meters.
