The Weiherburgbach (western Weiherburggraben) rises from the abandoned Höttinger quarry above the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo at 730 m above sea level and flows south to the Inn . It reaches a length of 1.5 kilometers and lies entirely within the urban area.
The brook itself rises at the bank from Höttinger breccia , which gives the old field name Auf den Grauer Stein for the Hungerburg .
It feeds the zoo with fresh water, which is collected in a reservoir . The rest of the water flows on to the Hohe Weg , where the stream flows into the Inn.
The quality class of the stream is I – II. Due to the water consumption by the zoo, the stream has little water in the lower reaches.
