Landscape protection area

The area was designated as a landscape protection area by ordinance of the state capital Stuttgart of September 3, 2004 under the protected area number 1.11.046. The area has a size of 258.6 hectares.

The protected area essentially comprises the following parts of the landscape:

  • The meadows, gardens and arable land along the B 295 , in the east to the outskirts of Weilimdorf, in the west to the edge of buildings by Wolfbusch , Giebel and Hausen ;
  • the pheasant garden with surrounding gardens;
  • the Schnatzgraben and the Beutenbach with the adjoining meadows, fields and gardens;
  • the open spaces north of the B 295 between the city limits of Stuttgart and the edge of the industrial area of Weilimdorf with the rubble " Grünen Heiner ".

Previous interventions

In 1986 a bypass road for the B 295 was built through the area of the then not yet designated protected area.

Planned interventions

The Stuttgart streetcars AG plans a new depot in the region, close to Weilimdorf. The area is located in a regional green corridor and in a fresh air corridor, which is important because the nearby residential areas are supplied with cold and fresh air.
