Weimarschmieden is a district of the town of Fladungen in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld . It is the northernmost place in Bavaria.

Geographical location
Weimarschmieden is located about 4 km northeast of Fladungen directly on the Bavarian - Thuringian border and is connected to the main town via the NES31 district road. The municipal area borders on Thuringia on three sides.
The place is located on the southwest slope of the Hochrhön and is part of the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park and the Rhön Biosphere Reserve . The place is surrounded on the Thuringian side by LSG 255 Bischofswaldung with Stedtlinger Moor .
history
Weimarschmieden was mentioned for the first time in 1317 as a desert and a henberg fiefdom with the name Wilbrechtsschmiede . Later there were two manors that were united around 1800. The place belonged to Kaltensundheim and only later came to the regional court district of Fladungen.
On July 1, 1971, the previously independent community was incorporated into Fladungen.

The jazz festival in Weimarschmieden was known throughout Germany. After the opening of the border , it was closed due to the increased number of visitors and the resulting increased security requirements.
