The property at Weinstrasse 23 in the country town of Deidesheim ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a former winery that is classified as a cultural monument under the Monument Protection Act of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

At this point was formerly the sign industry "to Ox", which was opened to 1678 by Johann Adam Schwendel. After the restaurants “ Zur Kanne ” and “ Zum Schwanen ”, it was the third inn in Deidesheim. Schwendel later called his inn "Zum Roten Ochsen". He was followed by his stepson Georg Mayer as "ox host", then his son-in-law Peter Heinrich Brandner, and finally his son Johannes; In 1762 he married Katharina Barbara Traitteur, the daughter of the high school teacher and "Schwanenwirtes" Konrad Traitteur. In 1777 the late baroque core building of today's property was erected, as can be seen from the year above the entrance. In 1801 and 1802 Josef Adam Steinebach was named as the innkeeper, who had married the daughter Klara of Johannes and Katharina Barbara Brandner. Probably the inn was later given up by the landlord Josef Adam Steinebach. Today the building houses a doctor's practice.

The property is located in the historic town center of Deidesheim on the German Wine Route . His late baroque house from 1777 is a two-storey building with an L-shaped floor plan with a partially renewed hipped roof . The building was extended to the north around 1890 in the style of the Wilhelminian era ; the door leaves of the passage to the courtyard, marked with the year 1777, also date from this time. Between the striking three-storey staircase tower with a steep hipped roof and the wall facing Weinstrasse is a small terrace with a balustrade . The inner courtyard is closed off to the east by a late baroque former barn, which was probably built together with the main building.
