Weitzgrund is an inhabited part of the municipality of Bad Belzig in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg .

location

The small part of the community (12 inhabitants in 2009) is located in the middle of a forest area about 7 km northwest of Bad Belzig and is connected to Verlorenwasser via the county road 6936 . Weitzgrund is located in the Hoher Fläming Nature Park . His area belongs to the Dippmannsdorf Forest District . The Berlin – Hameln cycle path leads through Weitzgrund. The place cannot be reached by public transport.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1580 as "Against the Far Reasons". Late 16th century was Weitz reason, Vorwerk with a sheep and a brick barn . Weitzgrund has been part of Belzig since 1959.

today

The settlement consists of a few homesteads. The village center is registered under the number 30448 in the list of monuments of the state of Brandenburg, district of Potsdam-Mittelmark. The Reit- und Landhaus Weitzgrund operates a horse boarding house with a riding school and is a training company for horse breeding / animal breeding with a breeding company. The Belzig-Weitzgrund transmitter is located east of Weitzgrund .

The brook

In the past, the Verlorenwasser brook dipped into the sandy soil just behind its original source at Weitzgrund (hence the name). A few hundred meters further he came out again. Meanwhile, his has headwaters stream upward shifted and now the water has an uninterrupted run.
