today
A little to the south is a former barracks for the GDR riot police, a camp site on which several hundred people who the Stasi had classified as dangerous to the state should be concentrated in the event of a crisis. While, according to the ARD film Honecker's eerie plan , castles and youth hostels were often planned as camps, Verlorenwasser is reminiscent of concentration camps in Nazi Germany . After the fall of the Wall , the site was a refugee camp; today it is an industrial park.
A little to the south is a 40,000 m² animal shelter with around 200 animals. The geographical center of the GDR was between Weitzgrund and Verlorenwasser . ▼
