Welf II.
Welf II († March 10, 1030 ) was a Swabian count.
Welf II came from the Swabian branch of the Welfs . He was married to Irmentrud / Imiza "von Gleiberg". She was the daughter of Count Friedrich von Luxemburg , who was a brother of the future Empress Kunigunde of Luxemburg . The marriage cannot be dated with certainty. The children Kunigunde and Welf III were out of the marriage . emerged. The marriage brought Welf considerable proximity to the empire and, with the royal estate of Mering and the Lombard court of Elisina, important possessions. Mering was strategically important in the immediate vicinity of Augsburg . Welf joined the uprising of Ernst von Swabia against King Konrad II in 1025 . His submission ( deditio ) in Ulm followed in 1027 . Welf died in 1030 and was buried in the Altdorf grave.
