Velitschko Tscholakow ( Bulgarian Величко Чолаков , born January 12, 1982 in Smoljan ; † August 20, 2017 ibid) was a Bulgarian weightlifter .
Career
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , he won the bronze medal with 447.5 kg in the 105 kg weight class. He won the silver medal at the 2003 World Cup in Vancouver, the gold medal at the 2004 European Championships in Kiev and the bronze medal at the 2006 European Championships in Vladislavovo.
In 2008 he was exposed as a doping sinner and banned for four years. He then tried to make a comeback as an Azerbaijani, but was unsuccessful and became a youth coach in his hometown of Smolyan.
Cholakov died of a heart attack in August 2017 .
