Veljatyno ( Ukrainian Велятино ; Russian Велятино Veljatino , Hungarian Veléte , Slovak Veľatín ) is a village in the Ukrainian Zakarpattia Oblast with about 4500 inhabitants (2004).

The village is a health resort in which there are several thermal and mineral springs as well as a thermal bath that is used both medicinally and for tourism.

Veliatyno is the only village in the 29.26 km² district council of the same name in the south of Khust district .

The village lies in the valley of the Tisza at its tributary Jarok and on the territorial road T-07-37 near the Ukrainian- Romanian border. Khust district center is 9 km north and Uzhhorod oblast center is 115 km northwest of the village.

history

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1576. Until 1919 the village belonged largely to Ugocsa County in the Hungarian part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire . In 1945 the village became part of the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union and since 1991 Veliatyn has belonged to the independent Ukraine.

Until March 13, 2018, the place was called Velyatyn (Велятин) and was then renamed to Velyatyno .
