Career
societies
Wellington Nem began his football career as a youth player with the Brazilian top club Fluminense FC , whose youth teams he went through from 2005. In 2011 he was promoted by the second to the club's first team, which he left again in March of that year when he was loaned to Figueirense FC for a year to gain match practice with a smaller club. This was achieved by the 19-year-old young striker, who immediately became a regular player and scored nine times in 25 games. The club surprisingly ended the season in seventh place in the table and Wellington Nem was voted Newcomer of the Year at the Prêmio Craque do Brasileirão .
For the next season he returned to his old club. On February 8, 2012, he had his first appearance at the Copa Libertadores , which he had six more follow in the same year, until his club failed in the quarter-finals at the Boca Juniors . Shortly afterwards he played in a 0-0 win against Internacional for the first time for Fluminense in the league. During this season he played 27 games in which he scored six goals. At the end of the year Fluminense won the championship .
In the 2013 season he only played one game for his club before Nem signed a 5-year contract with the Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk on June 6, 2013 . The club confirmed a transfer fee of nine million euros. He made his league debut in Ukraine on July 21, when he scored his first goal straight away on the second match day of the 2013-14 season. In August of that year he had to undergo knee surgery, which is why he missed large parts of the first half of the season. He was then not reported for the squad of the UEFA Champions League . He played almost no role in the league either, but was able to win the championship title with the team after a 3-1 win against Zorya Luhansk in May 2014.
On July 18, 2019, his old place of work in Rio de Janeiro, FLU , announced that it had loaned Wellington Nem until the end of the year. After the loan ended, Wellington Nem returned to Shakhtar. After he stopped playing, the club ended the contract in August 2020
