Emergence

The first theater group for children in the Theater Education Center of the Emsländische Landschaft eV ( TPZ Lingen ) was founded in 1981 by Norbert Radermacher . Just two years later, the children showed the results of their work in a small festival entitled: "Children play and dance for children". After visiting the World Theater Festival for adults, Norbert Radermacher - then head of the Theater Education Center of the Emsländische Landschaft eV (TPZ Lingen) had the idea of setting up a similar festival on a world level for children. Together with John Ytteborg, then General Secretary of the World Association, Irene Luitz from the Netherlands and Dr. Bernd Ruping - at the time an employee at the TPZ Lingen, they created a concept for the first culture and theater festival for children on a world level.

The project received support from the city of Lingen and state and private donors and sponsors. In cooperation with the "International Amateur Theater Association" (IATA / AITA), the Children and Youth Theater Center for the Federal Republic of Germany and the International Children Theater Corporation (ICTC), the 1st World Children's Theater Festival was planned and carried out in 1990 in Lingen.
