World Youth Day 1997 in Paris.

The XII. World Youth Day was a Catholic youth gathering that took place in Paris from August 19 to 24, 1997 . 1.1 million young people took part. The motto of the meeting was:

“Master, where do you live? Come and see! ”( Jn 1,38-39  EU ).

The final fair took place at the Longchamp racecourse .

The hymn of this meeting was “Maitre et seigneur, venu chez vous”.

For the first time, the days in the dioceses, which have now become customary, took place at a World Youth Day. The participants spend a few days with a family in a diocese of the host country before they go to the diocese of the hosting World Youth Day to celebrate their faith together. In addition, a Way of the Cross was carried out for the first time .
