The XXXVII. World Youth Day was originally scheduled to take place in Lisbon in 2022 . World Youth Days are international youth meetings of the Roman Catholic Church . After the XXXIV. World Youth Day in Panama City in 2019 invited Pope Francis to Portugal for 2022 .

In April 2020, World Youth Day was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
