Welyka Dobron ( Ukrainian Велика Добронь ; Russian Велика Добронь Welika Dobron , Slovak Veľká Dobroň , Hungarian Nagydobrony ) is a village in the Ukrainian Transcarpathian Oblast with about 5600 inhabitants (2004).
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1248, forms an independent district council in the south of Uzhhorod Rajon .
Welyka Dobron is located on the banks of the Latorica and on the M 25 trunk road and the T-07-10 territorial road . Uzhhorod Rajon and Oblast Center is located 33 km north of Velyka Dobron.
Until 1919 the village belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Kingdom of Hungary , then as part of the Carpathian-Ukraine to Czechoslovakia . With the annexation of Carpathian Ukraine, it came back to Hungary in 1938–1945. In 1945 the village became part of the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union and since 1991 the village has been part of the independent Ukraine.
In the second half of the 19th century there was a steady increase in the number of inhabitants in the village: in 1863 the village had 1,876 and in 1881 there were already 2,089 inhabitants, the number of which rose to 2,810 by 1891. At the beginning of the First World War, the population had grown to 3,033.
