Wendel Schäfer

Wendel Schäfer (* 1940 in Bundenbach ( Hunsrück )) is a retired teacher and writer living in Boppard .

After graduating from high school and studying elementary, secondary and special education in Koblenz and Mainz , Schäfer worked for 15 years in teacher training at the Neuwied study seminar , where he taught art and German.

From 1989 to 1991 he was state chairman of the Association of German Special Schools , for which he sat on the main staff council at the Ministry of Education in Mainz.

Schäfer was the rector of the Theodor Heuss School in Bendorf for twelve years . In addition, he took on numerous voluntary activities in school, sport and culture, including as 1st chairman of the sports club TG 1892 Boppard eV (1990-95), on the state board of the Friedrich-Bödecker-Kreis (1996-98), as chairman of the support group German writer in Rhineland-Palatinate (1995–97), state chairman of the Association of German Writers (VS) in Rhineland-Palatinate (1994–98) and in 1989 on the provisional VS federal executive board . In 2008 he was appointed 1st honorary chairman of VS Rhineland-Palatinate. He is a member of the Humboldt Society for Science, Art and Education , the Society for Contemporary Poetry in Leipzig and the Friends of the Krautgarten magazine in St. Vith (Belgium). Since 2011 member of the German Language Association (VDS). He also worked as a publisher and juror .

Schäfer is married and has two children.
