Wendell Silva Lira (born January 7, 1989 in Goiânia ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . Since 2016 he has played as a striker for Vila Nova FC .
Career
Lira began his football career in 2002 when he moved to Goiás EC after previously attending school in Ovel.
In the second half of 2006, Lira experienced one of the highlights of his career when he won the Sendai Cup with the Brazilian U-20 national team . After returning to Goiás, he attracted the attention of several clubs with good performances. While Goiás's first team played the Recopa Sudamericana , Lira played in the reserve team to gain match practice. A year later he received an offer from AC Milan , but Goiás refused.
He ended his career in 2016 to become a pro gamer .
Injuries and subclassiveness
In the following seasons Lira experienced an injury misery, as he had his first of two serious knee injuries and had to sit out for 10 months. His return was difficult as he could not exercise properly due to muscle injuries. In 2010 he was awarded to the EC in Fortaleza , a little later he experienced another setback, as he injured his knee again and had to pause the rest of the season. In 2015 Lira won the FIFA Puskás Prize . He was the second Brazilian player to win this award after Neymar . He scored the goal as a Goianésia EC player in the 2-1 win over Atlético Goianiense on March 11, 2015.
