The Wenigblättrige Milchstern ( Ornithogalum oligophyllum ) is a plant from the family of asparagus plants (Asparagaceae).
description
The few-leaved milk star is a perennial , herbaceous bulb plant that usually reaches heights of 4 to 15 centimeters. The 2 to 3 (4) leaves are prostrate, lanceolate-spatulate, suddenly rounded at the end and have no white central stripe. They measure 6 to 20 × 0.5 to 20 centimeters. Usually there are 2 to 5 flowers , rarely more. The tepals are 11 to 16 millimeters long. The capsule has 6 wings approximated in pairs.
The flowering period extends from March to April.
The chromosome number is 2n = 12, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 24, 40 or 80.
Occurrence
The little-leaved Milky Star occurs in the southern Balkans, southern Turkey, the Caucasus, Transcaucasia and western Iran on rocky grass slopes, in high mountain meadows and on patches of snow. In the south of its range it can be found at altitudes of (630) 2000 to 3000 meters.

The few-leaved milk star is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. It has been in culture since the late 19th century.
