occupation

When two fight is a German short film that Leopold Lindtberg made in 1932 for Pax-Film GmbH Sam Spiegels in Berlin. He wrote the script for it together with Rudolf Frank . The literary model was the poem "Gutmann und Gutweib" by Johann Wolfgang Goethe .

action

Gutweib has baked her Gutmann a cake and both are now resting in bed. Then they hear that the front door is still open and rattles. Nobody wants to get up to close them, they have made themselves so comfortable. So they make a bet: whoever speaks a word first should go and close the door.

Meanwhile, two thieves sneak into the house, which apparently seems uninhabited because no sound can be heard, and feast on the cake. Soon they are thirsty and discover a bottle of schnapps in the cupboard, from which they immediately drink. Gutmann and Gutweib hear how they feast, but Gutweib persistently remains silent. It is Gutmann who now jumps up and calls out to them, breaking the rule and losing the bet, that they should pay him the schnapps. Now he has to get up and lock the door.

background

The short film, Lindtberg's first film work, was a production by Pax-Film GmbH Berlin. Teo Otto created the film structures, with Georges C. Stilly in front of the camera . The film was presented to the censors on December 19, 1932 and was found to be suitable for minors under the number B.32776. It was also performed in the Italian-speaking area as Quando due litigano .

reception

Lindtberg is said to have said about the film: “Il film non è mai uscito ed è scomparso; per me è certo una gran fortuna “(The film is no longer being awarded and has disappeared, certainly a great stroke of luck for me).
