Wenzel Güntner

Wenzel Güntner (born December 29, 1820 in Neulosimthal , † October 9, 1896 in Salzburg ) was a Bohemian-Austrian surgeon .

Career

Gabriel Güntner O.Präm., Professor of theology, dedication of his book Introductio in sacros Novi Testamenti libros (1863) to his brothers, the medical professors Franz and Wenzel Güntner "as a sign of brotherly love that does not become obsolete"

Güntner studied medicine at the German Charles University in Prague . In 1847 he received his doctorate as Dr. med. and start of surgical training as an assistant at Pitha . In 1855 he gave his first lectures on theoretical surgery . In 1858 Güntner succeeded his teacher Pitha as primary surgeon at the General Hospital. From 1858 to 1878 he worked as a primary physician at the St. Johann Hospital in Salzburg. From 1878 to 1896 Güntner was a medical officer for the Duchy of Salzburg.

According to his last will, a foundation in the amount of 266,000 guilders was set up for the Dr. Wenzel Güntner Hospital in Neulosimthal.

He was married to Johanna Katharina Thekla Edle von Helly
