Gabriel Güntner
Gabriel Güntner O.Praem. , Birth name Johann Baptist Güntner , (born March 8, 1804 in Neulosimthal , † March 17, 1867 in Prague ) was a German-Bohemian Premonstratensian - canon and Catholic theologian .
Life
Güntner joined the Premonstratensian Monastery of Tepl in 1825 and took the religious name Gabriel . After studying theology, he was ordained a priest in 1830 . Then he was chaplain in Neumark and received his doctorate as Dr. theol. In 1832 he became professor for the New Testament at Teplá Abbey. From 1838 until his death in 1867 he was professor of theology at the German Charles University in Prague , and in 1862/63 he was also dean of the theological faculty .
