Pine Island is an island and a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 64 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Pine Island is an offshore island in the Gulf of Mexico . It is located about 25 km west of Brooksville and about 85 km north of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 64 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 71 households. The population density was 320 inhabitants / km². 96.9% of the population identified themselves as white and 3.1% as African American .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 51.5% of all households lived in 12.1% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 72.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.94 and the average family size was 2.25.

11.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 9.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.1% were 40 to 59 years old, and 44.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 61 years. 50.0% of the population were male and 50.0% were female.
