Brookridge is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 4420 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Brookridge is about 10 km west of Brooksville and about 70 km north of Tampa . The CDP is affected by Florida State Road 50 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 4420 inhabitants were distributed over 2900 households. The population density was 850 inhabitants / km². 95.0% of the population identified themselves as whites , 1.7% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 1.0% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.2% to several ethnic groups. 5.2% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 68.7% of all households lived in 10.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 60.3% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.91 people and the average family size was 2.39 people.

10.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 9.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 17.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 61.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 66 years. 44.6% of the population were male and 55.4% were female.

The median annual income was $ 34,012, with 9.8% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 97.33% of the population, 1.84% spoke German and 0.83% spoke Spanish .
