Istachatta is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 116 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Istachatta is located on the Withlacoochee River , about 15 km northeast of Brooksville and about 80 km north of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 116 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 83 households. The population density was 386.7 inh / km². 92.2% of the population identified themselves as whites, 3.4% as African American , 0.9% as Indians and 0.9% as Asian Americans . 2.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group. 5.2% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 28.8% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 36.5% of all households. 51.9% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.23 people and the average family size was 3.00 people.
