Timber Pines is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 5386 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Timber Pines is located approximately 25 km southwest of Brooksville and approximately 60 km north of Tampa . The CDP is affected by US Highway 19 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 5386 inhabitants were distributed among 3902 households. The population density was 868.7 inh / km². 98.7% of the population identified themselves as white, 0.3% as African American and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 0.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.3% to several ethnic groups. 1.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 92.1% of all households lived in 1.1% of all households with persons aged 65 or over. 59.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.67 people and the average family size was 2.06 people.

1.3% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 1.7% were 20 to 39 years old, 4.7% were 40 to 59 years old, and 92.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 76 years. 44.4% of the population were male and 55.6% were female.

The median annual income was $ 44,170, with 5.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 96.86% of the population, 1.31% spoke Italian and 1.83% had another mother tongue.
