Spring Lake is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 458 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Spring Lake is located approximately 10 km southeast of Brooksville and approximately 60 km north of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 458 inhabitants were distributed among 145 households. The population density was 52.6 inh / km². 96.9% of the population identified themselves as white, 0.2% as African-American , 0.4% as Native American and 1.3% as Asian Americans . 0.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.7% to several ethnic groups. 6.3% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 38.8% of all households lived in 25.5% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 79.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.44 people and the average family size was 2.70 people.

19.6% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 15.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 33.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 31.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 50 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 31,750, with 12.1% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.

On October 20, 2009, the Spring Lake Community Center was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
