North Weeki Wachee is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hernando County in the US state of Florida with 8524 inhabitants (as of 2010).

North Weeki Wachee is about 15 km west of Brooksville and about 70 km north of Tampa . The CDP is crossed or tangent to US Highway 19 and Florida State Road 50 .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,524 inhabitants were distributed over 4,412 households. The population density was 446.3 inh / km². 94.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 2.3% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 1.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.4% to several ethnic groups. 8.3% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 20.5% of all households and people aged 65 and over in 50.3% of all households. 70.3% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.27 people and the average family size was 2.64 people.

17.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 13.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 42.5% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 55 years. 49.2% of the population were male and 50.8% were female.

The median annual income was $ 47,162, with 12.8% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 91.63% of the population, 5.45% spoke Spanish and 2.92% had another mother tongue.
