As senior councilor Dr. Hans-Hermann Brandelhuber leaves his job in the Office for Marriage and Sexual Issues, he is constantly flooded with sexual stimuli on his way home, much to his displeasure: At the kiosk, bare breasts and the same pubic area stare at him from the magazine covers, a young one on one A girl sitting on the wall dangles with her legs in front of his nose and finally, indignantly, he has to take note of a movie poster for the Swedish scandalous film I am curious (yellow) . All these sexual temptations only make Brandelhuber's own situation worse, because they painfully remind him that nothing has been going on in bed with his wife Lore for a long time. In short: the senior civil servant has become impotent over the years. It must be due to his loveless wife, because things look very different in the brothel ...
When Lore leaves the house and flees into the arms of nephew Peter, Brandelhuber rages. In order to comfort himself otherwise, he now visits Madame Paula's cathouse and finds that his erectile dysfunction has been blown away and that his best piece is rising to new heights. He is particularly fond of the brisk Rita, and after the divorce has passed, he wants to marry the prostitute immediately. But, oh dear: as soon as the rings have been exchanged, the old problems reappear and the stability is lost. Perhaps sexual habit kills potency, thinks the councilor and quickly moves on to the next lady of the horizontal trade, Elfi. The young women, however, find Brandelhuber's unfaithful behavior not at all appropriate and attack their best customers in unison. Like the proverbial beaten dog, it sneaks away and returns to home and hearth.

Who is crying in the Freudenhaus was created in Munich in 1969 and premiered on January 30, 1970.
Heinrich Graf Brühl designed the film structures, Andreas Mertel was in charge of production. Peter Fröhlich sings the theme song .
The theme of "sex" runs through the entire film and is also echoed in the zeitgeist of the 1969 shooting year: for example, Lubowski added several scenes of demonstrating and protesting APO students who put on banners slogans such as "Sexual satisfaction for everyone" or "Lust is the only one Civic duty ”carry with you.
Who's crying in the house of joy and Immer bei Vollmond were two thematically completely different films that director Lubowski had shot in quick succession in 1969 in Bavaria and some of them featured the same actors (Camilla Horn, Bum Krüger, Jutta Simon, Alexis von Hagemeister).
