Vera Pavlovna Strojewa

Vera stroyeva ( Russian Вера Павловна Строева ; born September 8 . Jul / 21st September  1903 greg. In Kiev ; †  26. August 1991 ) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter .

Vera Strojewa studied acting at the Kiev Theater Institute from 1920 to 1922 and then until 1924 at the Children's Theater of the Ministry of Education ( NARKOMPROS ) in Moscow . From 1925 to 1927 she worked there as an actress, author and director at the State Children's Theater, where she met her future husband, the director Grigori Roschal , and his sister, the screenwriter Serafima Roschal . From 1925 Strojewa also wrote scripts for the production company Sojuskino (today Mosfilm ), from 1928 to 1931 she worked for Ukrainfilm in Odessa . Since 1930 she worked as a director, initially together with Grigori Roshal. Many of her films have been lavishly presented musicals and opera adaptations, including Khovanschina , which was nominated for best film music at the 1962 Academy Awards .

Among other things, she was awarded the Badge of Honor ( Орден «Знак Почёта» ). In 1944 she received the state award as Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR ( Заслуженный деятель искусств Казахской ССР ), in 1973 the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR ( Народный артист ).
