Weranika Valerevna Zepkala ( Belarusian Вераніка Валер'еўна Цапкала , Russian Вероника Валерьевна Цепкало Veronika Tsepkalo * 7. September 1972 in Mogilev ) is a Belarusian nonpartisan civil rights activist .

In 1998 Zepkala graduated from the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University with a diploma in international relations. From 2004 to 2006 she studied at the School of Management and Business of the Belarusian State Economic University. In 2008 she studied at the National Institute of Small and Medium Enterprises in Hyderabad , India . She works for Microsoft .

After Zepkala's husband Valeryj announced in May 2020 that he would run for the presidential election in Belarus , she accompanied him to events. Waleyj Zepkala was not accepted as a candidate by the electoral commission. He left the country with their children in July 2020 to get to safety. Threats had previously been made against the children. The opposition members Svyatlana Zichanouskaja , Wiktar Babaryka and Zepkala formed an alliance that organized a joint election campaign. Weranika Zepkala represented her husband during appearances. She later supported the campaign of the only admitted opposition candidate Svyatlana Zichanouskaya. Even under pressure from the authorities, she left the country on the eve of the election and saw her husband again in Moscow. According to media reports, she was in Ukraine from September 2020 .

Together with the Belarusian opposition politicians Svyatlana Zichanouskaja and Maryja Kalesnikawa , she will receive the Charlemagne Prize in 2022 . In 2021 the three women were awarded the Fritz Csoklich Democracy Prize.
