Wernau is a district of the city of Erbach in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg .

The hamlet is about two kilometers north of Erbach.

history

Wernau is first mentioned in a document in 1264. In the 13th century, the place was probably owned by the Counts-Bergisch and Steussling ministerial family von Wernau , who had been documented since 1264 and moved out of the area in the 16th century and went out in 1696. Konrad Wilhelm von Wernau was Bishop of Würzburg in 1683/84.

No traces of the castle have survived. The hamlet came to the Ulm zu Erbach , who sold it to the Urspring Monastery in 1702 . From this he came to the Wengenkloster Ulm in 1785 and in the same year to the Count Schenk von Castell .
