Werner Guth (Major General)

Werner Guth (born February 28, 1917 ; † November 17, 2005 ) was a major general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

Use in the Wehrmacht

Guth was assigned to the 6th Squadron of Destroyer Squadron 76 as a lieutenant in the Luftwaffe from May 13, 1940 . On May 23, 1940, his Messerschmitt Bf 110 with the identification M8 + GP was shot down near Calais and he was wounded in the shoulder. After his recovery he attended various Luftwaffe destroyer schools from March 1941 to July 1944. In July 1944, he took over as Major in Group I of Destroyer Wing 26 .

Use in the  Bundeswehr

From 1961 to 1970 he was the first commodore of Lufttransportgeschwader 62 in Cologne , later Ahlhorn, as a colonel . Guth was from April 1, 1971 to March 31, 1977 commander of the air transport command in Münster . In 1973 he was promoted from Brigadier General to Major General.
