Erik Forssell (born January 30, 1982 in Skellefteå ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Malmö Redhawks in the Svenska Hockeyligan (SHL).

Career

Forssell began his career in the 1999/00 season in the youth team of Skellefteå AIK in the junior league SuperElit. The following season he moved within the league to the U20 team of IF Björklöven , before he was regularly on the ice for the first team in the second-rate Allsvenskan from the 2001/02 season . There the Swede established himself in the following years as a strong center and appeared regularly both as a preparer and as a goal scorer. In the 2006/07 season Forssell played with 43 points scorer his season with the highest points in the Allsvenskan and was then able to recommend himself for a contract with his former club Skellefteå AIK, for which he has played in the Elitserien since the 2007/08 season .

In the 2010/11 season , the left-shot was the most successful goalscorer in the play-offs with seven hits and thus had a significant share in the final of his team, where they were defeated by the Färjestad BK . The following year Forsell stood with his team again in the final of the Swedish Championship , but had to admit defeat again and this time was defeated by Brynäs IF . In the 2012/13 season the attacker with 60.3% obtained had Bullys the best odds in League and won with Skellefteå after two consecutive runners-up finally the championship as one in the play-off final to Lulea HF in four games defeated, with Forssell marked a total of 10 scorer points in 13 games. Skellefteå was able to repeat the championship win the following year and prevailed again in four games in the final against Färjestad BK.

From the 2014/15 season , Forssell was the team captain at Skellefteå after serving as one of the assistant captains in the previous two years . The striker finished the main round with 35 points and thus played his season with the best points to date in the SHL.

In 2016 he left the SAIK and was signed for two years by the Malmö Redhawks , where he was team captain again.
