Werner Haslauer

Werner Haslauer (born August 13, 1940 - February 8, 2019 ) was an Austrian politician . He was the first federal manager of the Green Alternative and from 2011 to 2015 deputy district chairman in Vienna - Mariahilf .

education and profession

Haslauer attended a Jesuit school and studied technical chemistry. He worked in a Swedish paper mill, in the steelworks laboratory of VÖEST, at the Austrian Post and studied architecture. He then went on to work as an “excavation architect” on archaeological excavations in Turkey and Egypt and subsequently became self-employed. He built the museum “The Austrian Farm Before Industrialization” in Ernstbrunn and worked as an architectural restorer, site manager and site supervision.

politics

Haslauer was a founding member of the Green Alternative and after the founding congress of the Green Party in February 1987 in Klagenfurt, together with Manfred Stadlmann, took over the role of Federal Managing Director. After Stadlmann resigned from his position shortly thereafter, Haslauer held the office alone until May 15, 1988. Haslauer was active with the Green Vienna for a long time and was a district councilor in Mariahilf between 1993 and 2019. Between 2005 and 2011 he was deputy district chairman in Mariahilf. After his death, Haslauer was buried on March 14, 2019 in the Mauer cemetery.
