Werner Herklotz

Werner Herklotz (born May 25, 1931 in Clausnitz ) is a former German politician ( SED ) and diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador in Somalia .

Life

Herklotz attended the state administration school in Saxony and the district party school. He later completed a correspondence course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law , which he graduated with a degree in political science. Until 1957, Herklotz was a councilor in Freiberg . He was then mayor of this city until March 1963. Between 1963 and 1969 he was secretary of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district council.

In 1969 he was posted to the GDR commercial agency in Zambia as an employee . From May 18, 1970 to June 1974, he represented the GDR as ambassador in Mogadishu . Then he was employed as a sector manager in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR and in 1976 switched to the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the SED as a political employee.
