Werner Jurich

Werner Jurich (born January 9, 1928 in Neuschönburg ) is a former German politician ( SED ). From 1980 to 1990 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Supply or Trade and Tourism in the GDR .

Life

Jurich was born in Neuschönburg in the Zwickau district. He attended elementary school from 1934 to 1942 and then completed a commercial apprenticeship. He then worked as a commercial clerk in a large graphic company in Zwickau . From 1952 to 1954 he was employed as chief accountant in retail. From 1954 to 1957 he studied at the University of Internal Trade. From 1958 to 1965 he worked at the Institute for Market Research in Leipzig , initially as a research assistant and later as a department head. In 1961 he was promoted to Dr. rer. oec. PhD.

Jurich went to the Ministry of Trade and Supply in 1965 as a department head. He later became Head of Department, Deputy Minister in 1974 and State Secretary in May 1980 as the successor to Kurt Lemke . As such, he was responsible for planning and economics in the ministry. Jurich, who was a member of the SED, resigned from the party at the turn of the GDR . After the election of the People's Chamber in April 1990 - proposed by the SPD - he was appointed as a non-party member of Prime Minister Lothar de Maizière as State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Tourism. To improve the supply situation in the GDR, the GDR government formed an operational staff at State Secretary level in July 1990 and appointed State Secretary Jurich to head this operational staff.
