Kurt Lemke

Kurt Erich Lemke (born June 4, 1914 in West Prussia ; † November 11, 1996 ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was Deputy Minister for Trade and Supply in the GDR .

Life

Lemke was a member of the Communist Youth Association of Germany (KJVD) since his youth . At Easter 1930 he took part in the 5th Reich Youth Meeting of the KJVD in Leipzig .

Lemke joined the KPD in 1945 and became a member of the SED in 1946. In 1945/46 he acted as district administrator for the Spremberg district . In 1947/48 he headed the sub-department or the department of planning and statistics in the trade and supply department of the Brandenburg Ministry of Economic Planning. From January to 1949 he briefly headed the main trade and supply department in the Brandenburg Ministry of Economics, succeeding Hermann Streit . From June 1949 Lemke was head of the newly formed main department for the collection and purchase of agricultural products at the Brandenburg Prime Minister and from November 1950 to 1951 at the Brandenburg Ministry of Trade and Supply.

From 1951 to 1961 Lemke acted as deputy president and department head at the Association of German Consumer Cooperatives . From 1961 to 1966 he was Deputy Minister, then from 1966 to 1980 State Secretary, from 1980 to 1989 again Deputy Minister for Trade and Supply in the GDR.

From 1968 to 1972 Lemke was also a member of the Council for Agriculture and Food Industry. Lemke was a member of the Central Commission for the Care of Old Honored Party Members of the SED and most recently lived as a veteran in Berlin.

After the reunification in the GDR he was one of the four high SED economic functionaries who still worked in the Federal Ministry of Economics in Bonn, along with Eduard Schwierz , Peter Grabley and Lothar Engel .
