Werner Kern (business economist)

Werner Kern (born May 14, 1927 in Berlin ; † June 9, 2014 in Cologne ) was a German business economist and most recently professor at the University of Cologne .

Life

Werner Kern was born on May 14, 1927 in Berlin . In 1953 he graduated from the Technical University of Darmstadt with a degree in industrial engineering . There he received his doctorate in 1957 during his time as a research assistant. rer. pole.

After teaching activities in Darmstadt and Frankfurt / Main, he accepted an appointment to the full professorship for business administration at the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1963 . 1967 until his retirement he worked as a university professor for business administration at the University of Cologne .

Werner Kern Prize

The Werner Kern Prize was donated by his students on May 14, 1997 on his 70th birthday and is awarded every two years by the Scientific Commission for Production Management in the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration . The winner of the award, which is endowed with € 5,000, is the Werner Kern Association for Production Management Research in Cologne. The association currently has around 50 members from science and management positions in business. Qualified doctoral and post-doctoral theses as well as research reports by authors from German-speaking countries who have set new, pioneering accents for research in production and its implementation in practice are awarded.
