Werner Koch (born July 20, 1952 in Göttingen ) is a German administrative lawyer and Hessian state politician ( CDU ).

Career

After graduating from secondary school in Göttingen in 1968, Koch completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk by 1971 . After completing his military service, he started basic studies in 1973 at the University of Kassel in the business department. In 1974 he acquired the subject- related higher education entrance qualification . From 1975 until his first state examination in law in 1980, Koch studied law at the universities of Marburg and Gießen . Until his second state examination he was a trainee lawyer at the regional court in Giessen .

Act

Koch started a civil service career in 1983 and until 1987 was the main subject area manager in the Frankfurt am Main police headquarters . In 1987 he became a policy officer in the ministerial office of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior under Gottfried Milde , in 1991 head of the organizational unit in the police department and in 1994 head of the personnel department in the police department. In 1999, Koch was promoted to head of the ministerial office of Interior Minister Volker Bouffier . In 2002 he took over as Secretary , the Central Department of the Ministry. From 2007 to 2009 he was also acting head of the “Municipal Affairs” department (Department IV) of the Ministry of the Interior. Since August 2010, Koch was State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and for Sport . He was the permanent representative of Interior Minister Peter Beuth and director of the State Personnel Office. In January 2019, he retired at his own request for reasons of age.

Koch lives in Kiedrich, he is married and has one child.
