Werner Luthardt (born November 22, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player. From 1963 to 1965 he played for Motor Steinach 52 times in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Werner Luthardt began his career as a football player in the men's division in the 1956 season with the fourth division team Motor Steinach. He won with the team the championship in the district league Suhl and rose with her in the third class II. GDR league . After two more seasons, Motor Steinach rose to Luthardt in 1958 in the I. GDR League . There Luthardt was used in 22 of the 26 point games in 1959, and he was the Steinacher's second-best goalscorer with nine goals behind player-coach Heinz Leib . The team did not manage to stay in the league and spent the following two seasons again in the 2nd GDR League. In 1960 Luthardt was again the second best goal scorer in Steinach with 18 goals, this time behind Ulrich Sperschneider (30). After the 1961/62 season (change to the summer-spring season) Motor Steinach was determined for the second time as promoted to the I. GDR League. In the following season 1962/63, in which Luthardt played all 26 point games, but when the right runner with two goals fell short of his previous scoring risk, Steinach managed to march through to immediate promotion to the GDR league in 1962/63.

Motor Steinach was able to hold its own in the major league for two seasons. Luthardt was the only player who was called up in all 52 first division point games. He was always used in midfield, played on the right and left side, but did not score any goals.

After relegation, Luthardt played two more seasons for Motor Steinach in the GDR League (the II. GDR League had since been abolished). In 1965/66 he played 20 out of 30 point games played, and with seven goals he was once again Steinach's deputy goal scorer behind Günter Queck (16). In 1966/67 Luthardt made 26 points, but only scored once. He then played for the third-rate district division Motor Rudisleben for the 1967/68 season , after which he ended his career as a footballer at the age of 30.
