Werner Mück (born January 1, 1945 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist and former editor-in-chief of ORF's television information station . From January 1st 2007 until the end of 2009 Werner Mück was managing director of TW1 .

Style and criticism

Politically, Mück sees himself as "five centimeters to the right of the center" . Through his position as editor-in-chief of ORF television information - he was responsible for programs such as the various editions of Die Zeit im Bild , Report , Thema, Weltjournal and the business magazine Eco - he was considered one of the most influential journalists in the country. On the part of the opposition SPÖ he was accused of influencing the news broadcasts in favor of the ruling ÖVP and political court reporting . He is said to have set the agenda largely on his own initiative and repeatedly kept politically unpleasant topics out of current television coverage. He appointed women to leading positions in TV information at ORF. Nevertheless, his opponents said he had an anti-feminist stance. However, violations of the objectivity requirement could not be proven. He held his position as editor-in-chief until his contract expired at the end of 2006. A libel suit brought by Mück against an editor of the industry newspaper medianet , who had examined Mück's behavior with a test proposed in the book The Asshole Factor by Robert I. Sutton , ended in a settlement .
