The Rosa Handtaschl is an Austrian humiliating prize , which is awarded to obviously sexist statements by public figures. The prize, which is similar to the German media prize Saure Gurke , has been awarded by the Austrian women's media network since 2004 . In addition to the Rosa Handtaschl, it has also been awarding the Vienna Journalist Prize since 2011, and its founders were awarded the Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria in February 2017 .

Award winners

With this award, the women's network media draws attention to statements that are characterized by obvious sexism. Subliminal attacks, derogatory statements, clichéd representations or ignorance of women or their achievements are evaluated.

The first negative award winners in 2004 were the songwriter and singer Wolfgang Ambros and the politician Kurt Bergmann .
