Werner Marquardt

Werner Marquardt (born June 2, 1922 in Klein-Wittenberg , † December 28, 2001 in Laatzen ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Marquardt completed a commercial training from 1936 to 1939 and then worked as a commercial clerk. He was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1941 and took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1947.

After his release from captivity, Marquardt entered the administrative service of Lower Saxony in 1947 and had been employed in the Ministry of the Interior there since 1952. In 1960/61 he acted as personal assistant to the Lower Saxony Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forests, Alfred Kubel .

Political party

Marquardt joined the SPD in 1947 and was elected chairman of the SPD sub-district Hannover -Land / Springe in 1955 .

MP

Marquardt was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1980. In parliament he represented the Hanover-Land constituency from 1961 to 1965 and the Hanover III constituency from 1965 to 1980 .
