Werner Marxer

Werner Marxer (* 1950 in Nendeln ) is a Liechtenstein artist and former police chief of the Liechtenstein national police .

Life

Marxer trained as a chemical laboratory assistant from 1966 to 1969. From 1970 to 1971 he attended the police school of the Zurich canton police. After graduating there, he joined the Princely Liechtenstein Security Corps, which later became the National Police, in 1971. In 1987 he became head of the wanted police (today: criminal police). The previous head of the search police , Heinz Hassler , was shot dead on duty in July 1986. In September 1989 Marxer, at that time a police lieutenant, was appointed police chief of the Liechtenstein national police by the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein . He held this post until 1997.

In addition to his career in the police force, Marxer was also interested in art. From 1991 to 1992 he took drawing lessons from Theo Dannecker in Zurich and from 1993 to 1997 he attended the Liechtenstein art school. After leaving the police force, he worked as a freelance artist. Between 2000 and 2001 he made study trips to various European countries. In 2003 he visited the Treptow litho workshop in Berlin . In 2007 he received a studio grant from the Liechtenstein Cultural Advisory Board.

Marxer has two children and has lived in Lütisburg in the canton of St. Gallen since 2002 .
