Werner Pögel

Werner Pögel (born October 10, 1904 , † 1957 in Dazendorf ) was a German SS standard leader .

Life

Werner Pögel was married to Marianne Rohde and had a daughter and a son with her.

Pögel joined the SS in 1928 (membership number 2300), and in 1929 the NSDAP (membership number 176.702).

On September 10, 1932 he became adjutant of Georg Altner at the 26th SS regiment "Paul Berck" in Halle (Saale) and from September 26, 1932 leaders of the III. Sturmbann of the 26th SS standard. From December 15, 1933 until August 31, 1934 he was staff leader of SS Section XVI in Magdeburg . On September 1, 1934, he took over the post as leader of the 40th SS standard in Kiel from Johannes Zingler. Subsequently, from April 30, 1937 to January 31, 1938, he was staff leader of SS Section VI in Brieg and became a member of Lebensborn eV On January 15, 1938 he was appointed leader of the 23rd SS standard "Upper Silesia". The standard was first stored in Gliwice and from April 1938 in Beuthen , which he held until 1942. From 1942 to March 1944, Pögel was an inactive leader (i.e. with functions outside the SS) in the personal staff of the Reichsführer SS in SS section XXXIX in Prague . During this time he took over the 108th SS standard until March 1, 1943. In 1943, along with Günter Siegert and Emil Hecke, he replaced Zdeňka Zavřela on the board of directors of the Smichov joint stock brewery, now Staropramen, in the course of Aryanization . From April 1944 until the end of the war, Pögel served under Karl Hermann Frank as a leader in the SS Upper Section (Oa) Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in Prague.

post war period

After the Second World War he was interned ; but he was released again in 1946. He then works as a farmer in Dazendorf , Holstein without ever being held accountable. He was wanted by the Czech Republic for murder on the CROWCASS list of March 1947 under CR File number 12414 .
